Mission
The mission of Jesus League was given directly by Jesus Himself. It’s known as the Great Commission. It is to go into all the world and preach the Gospel (good news) about Jesus to draw people to Him for their eternal salvation in Heaven, baptize them and teach them to do everything Jesus taught the original disciples to do (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-18; Luke 24:47-49; John 20:21-23; Acts 1:8).
So, instead of fighting aliens from outer space or alternate universes to save physical lives, as fictional superheroes do, the mission of Christians is to battle Satan and his fallen angels with the armor of God for our own defense (Luke 10:18-20; Ephesians 2:1-3; 6:10-18) and to remove the blinders from the minds of unbelievers and reveal the Gospel (2 Corinthians 4:3-5) in the hope that they receive eternal life. The power of the Holy Spirit was given to Christians after Jesus demonstrated it for us. Jesus is the only real superhero, but he told us to do the same things He did (John 14:12).
So, if you haven’t already, and want to join the most epic mission ever, you first need to receive Jesus so you can join His family. But how can Jesus save us from death and take us to Heaven when we leave Earth? His death was a sacrifice for our sins. Here are a few Bible verses from the New King James Version about this truth:
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4).
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit” (1 Peter 3:18).
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
We didn’t measure up to God’s holy standards, but Jesus died in our place and made it possible for us to live forever in Heaven as a son or daughter of God. So, how can we join God’s family? Is it by doing good works? No. The Bible says:
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8, 9).
We simply need to ask Jesus into our hearts:
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12).
“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” “For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:9, 13).
Pray this simple prayer to join the real-life Jesus League:
Dear God, I know I’ve sinned and I believe Jesus died to pay the price for my sins, and you raised Him from the dead so I can live forever with You in Heaven. Jesus, come into my life and be my Lord. Help me to live the way You want me to live. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
You are now qualified to start your epic adventure as a child of God and help lead your friends and family to Jesus and eternal life!
